My Little Ladies

Did a thing today. I'm trying out a hugelkultur garden bed.

There's a couple cucumber seedlings, some carrots, and 2 mini blueberry bushes on top. Might plant some more carrots seeds. And I'm going to try some lettuce and spinach on the shaded side. 🤞 hopefully something grows

I dug out some of the under layer of the run bedding for my manure layer and oooh boy it's ripe! I was surprised because there hasn't been any smell at all. Hope the plants like it!

Yesterday when I let the Bigs out into the yard, I closed the run and tossed the Littles out into it. Daisy squawked for about 5 seconds until she saw the waterer.

Coco pouted.

Betty White has decided to go broody.

She is GROUCHY! Holy cow. Biting and growling and yelling at me when I kick her off the nest.

But even if I could let her hatch out chicks, she sucks at it. She only keeps one egg warm at a time. 😂

Over a week of being broody, and Betty White's being put in broody jail. Taking the eggs away and kicking her off the nest each day isn't working. And since she's not reliable with keeping the eggs under her (this morning there was one egg in her nest box, and she was sitting beside it) giving her hatching eggs isn't an option.

I thought she was finally over it. Apparently not.

Hahaha crazy hen, do you think she would take chicks?

Did you get your Azures from Freys?

I have my 4 yr old hen decide to go broody first time ever. She is really good at stealing eggs (and keeping them covered), I was thinking of stuffing a few chicks under her - I was thinking a couple Azures and a couple Noirans from Freys…
