[Spring Lake officers aren't allowed to investigate crimes or respond to 911 calls since a judge stripped the department of its police powers on May 6, following the arrests of two supervising officers on corruption charges. The Cumberland County Sheriff's deputies took over the law enforcement duties for the town

I found the above on this site http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/5744346/

True there are quite a few on here, who have family members that are police, that said its not harsh just reality. Ask your son and if he knows someone on the job, that does things wrong. Just because they wear a badge does not make them above the law, but most times they do not take it to the extreme that gets them noticed.

I think you will find that there are more good cops then crooked ones...

all I ask is that the next time anyone needs to call the police or heaven forbid 911 just remember every time you call them "pig" , "popo" or trash anyone in law enforcement, remember the dedicated professionals who put their lives on the line everyday.

this goes the same for the military too.... enjoy your freedom?... thank a vet!

I dont call them names, but I also dont blindly think they are all innocent.

Oh yeah, and your welcome, I served 6 years in the Navy. Trust me on this, the military is filled with bad eggs too.

I don't think that anyone said that all police are innocent. I wouldn't say that of any job.

My husband retired after 24 years in the Air Force. Like you, there were some duds that he ran across. Most people, though, were decent individuals who were dedicated to their job. I would imagine that the same is true of the police force. I just think that the good cops outnumber the bad ones.

Remember, I am the one who has a police force so corrupt that it was stripped of its powers. So, I can't be unaware that there are crooked cops.
