So today I noticed Piper had hurt her other foot. While I was preparing the indoor spa(bathtub), the private living quarters( dog crate in our bedroom, and inspirational foods(peas), she still got on top of Penny the Pekin Runner in the pool. Then Ford(Runner Rouen Drake) got on top of Piper. Even hurt ducks do not pass up an orgy .
A duck’s libido shocks the heck out of me...for real! I don’t know of another animal that has such a freaking sex drive! Rats maybe? I’ve never owned anything that comes even close.

Yeap ! You best get out of the way if there is sexy time on offer between the ladies.

Funnily enough, my girls are way less keen if a drake is offering the good stuff.

Oh YES, mine make that noise. And it’s generally when one female is on another female. I’m dying laughing watching your ducks do the same thing mine do. And the females even make the “thrust and grunt!” They look just a little re-re to me. It’s hilarious to watch. I tried to get a video today of my Peaches on top of Quinny. After she makes the thrust she just falls to the side. I literally laugh out loud when I see her doing this. Dang ducks! Don’t they know who’s who?
They know, but they don't care…

I always laugh my @SS off when Brownie Drake is "done": He just closes his eyes and rolls sideways off the duck/drake lies down for a moment and then runs it off. - Except for the one time he rolls off Blanca to the downhill-side… That was one of the days i needed fresh pants. 😊

I am dying laughing and I’m not sure which part is the funniest.

It seems Ralphie gets a very short “high” when he finishes. Usually he will immediately exit the pool in a run (with something trailing behind) and then come to an abrupt stop, after which he shakes those tail feathers till everything is returned to its original position. He generally will then return to the water. These birds never cease to amaze me!

You have one drake, here are eight! - And they all behave different after their short "high": Limpy is the sweetest, he tries to huddle with the duck. Erpelchen has to run it off, neck and head straight as a ruler, dragging his rapidly shrinking corkscrew behind, Brownie just rolls off, eyes closed (!) and the other's ares somewhere around that. And, except for Limpy, they all grunt.
Having ducks is the best way to train your belly muscles! ;) :lau

So @Mimi13 you wanted to see pictures of molting ducks, here we go, a group of my girls in different stages of molting:
full

Blanca Duck at the left is almost done with it, you can see her new flight feathers sticking out of her wings like knitting-needles.
The dirty looking duck in the center is Bazilla, she is about to start. One of the first things you will notice is that your duck's feathers are permanently dirty and look greasy.
Here are two close-ups of Bazilla, right before she noticed that i was taking pictures and attacked my toes - i should have worn rubber boots instead of sandals…

Remember: She is a WHITE Layer, but currently looks more like a Buff Orpington.
Disclaimer: My ducks have enough water, they have a shower with free shampoo, i give them enough to eat and to drink and i don't throw handfuls of mud at them! They just look like that during their molt!!!

And by the way, my drakes were in a particular bad mood yesterday, just watch the video below, Amigo Drake defending "his" pool against Brownie and Spot. And at about 35 seconds into the video Nona Duck used her standard maneuver to get rid of a pesky drake: Just bump into another drake so that the pursuing drake will collide with him and you have a drake fight…
No clue why they were all so bad tempered yesterday, maybe it was because of that dang thunderstorm at the horizon that never made it to here…
