That is horrible! That is no way to treat ANY mail let alone mail that is breakable!
speak to the post master, file a complaint (keep calling tell you get them) That mail lady should not have done that, she should know better. And she need to be talked to or punished for treating mail like that.
this post gave me a point to ponder. At what point does a mailed package become the legal property of the intended recipient? Is it when it leaves the hands of the sender, or when it reaches the hands of the intended recipient?

I know this is another "we hate the P.O" thread and it's understandable that people are peeved in this thread. I am, too. But the above is a HUGE generalization and untruth. There are a lot of us at the P.O that care. More than that don't, I would wager.
Unfortunately, those with bad experiences are louder and more vocal about it than those with good experiences. (As is the case with many things in life, I know.)
Hi! I just wanted to say that I have friends that work for the p/o in the town I used to live in. He used to get a 12 pack of beer for x-mas, because he was great at what he did. He always said hi to my kids and knew them by name. His name was Jim. I do not want to catergorize all postal workers, and this was not to be an I hate the p/o thread, I was bawling my eyes out, and I knew that there would be people on here that would make me feel better because they understand that they were not "just eggs". That is the look I got when I talked to the postmaster here in Douglas. I had to drive down there and show her that my box was NOT leaking egg everywhere. There was sooo much bubblewrap and newspaper it was impossible. She said now that I see the box, I realize it, but since you had this happen, I thought the yellow substance on all the mail here was from your box, and it was not. I had to prove it to her to believe me and then swear on my life that the mail lady indeed did throw the box. Of course she wasn't gonna tell her boss that. And like someone said earlier, I would appreciate an apology at the very least, but to be called a liar after what she did, that made matters alot worse. I did not start this thread to go after anyone. I just wanted some people to talk to who would actually understand. Thanks, Chrissie

So does that mean when it hit the pavement, then that is when it became mine?? I still haven't got a phone call back from the postal inspector, so maybe my next call will be to the attorney general. I will keep on going until someone fixes this. I just don't think she should get away with throwing packages like they are pieces of junk!!
