I have Ameraucanas, New Hampshires, and Black Australorps. I'm so excited. Today is day 7. I will be candling them this evening. Hubby is building me a coop with run out of recycled materials, which was the goal. Soon I'll have chickens in the yard

I see them all the time. (So sorry Mods, I realize now I posted in the wrong catagory. Feel free to move it if you'd like. I will be more careful in the future. Thanks.)

Just kidding! But it is one place that I hope to visit one day. What time is it there now? It's 11:04 in the P.M. here now.

We live on what looks like a country road but it's really a commuter road and quite busy. Our mailbox was across the street - I couldn't let my kids get the mail at all, and I hated to get it myself, at the bottom of a hill that's directly at the end of a large corner, people are literally flying (I'd been known to stand at the end of my driveway with a shovel in my hand, held like a spear, threatening to throw it through a few windshields of frequent offenders, but I digress

). One day down the street on the same side of the road there appeared a mailbox - I was surprised, I thought they all had to be on that one side. Thing is my road goes through to the next town, so they have to turn around and come back the same way anyways. So I called the post office and asked. They told me that the person in that house was disabled so they allowed the mailbox. Yes, I could now move mine, but I had to give them a week to straighten out the route. And within a week I was hapilly picking up my mail at the end of my driveway. My neighbor heard this and wanted theirs changed, too - so the PO said they'd deliver their mail to my box for a week while they straightened out the sorting again and soon they were happy, too. Most of us on this side of the road now have our mailboxes in front of our houses, and everyone is happy. Our post office is great, they bring packages up to the doors and are generally very pleasant to deal with.

Not the next town over, though, there were lawsuits over switched mailboxes!

I personally think we should all send you eggs and mark the boxes "HOLD AT POST OFFICE SO WE DONT GET THROWN OUT THE WINDOW OF AMOVING VEHICLE!!!"

Good morning all! The postmaster just dropped off an Express Mail envelope to MY DOOR!!! Something from the P/O actually came to my door, I can't believe it!! And right on it, it said United States Postal Service, Consumer Affairs Office!!! Oh and should also mention she was scoping out the coop, and Pecker my NHR cockrel didn't like it very much, he cockadoodled the WHOLE time she was at the door!!! I live on a farm, but I am sure she was scoping to get info so she can try to retaliate! Grow up and do your job!!! This wouldn't even be happening if I got an apology!! She seems like a good liar, so she could have even lied and said she was rushing for such& such a reason, and said sorry. But no-one did, so it came to this. Well, it looks to me like this is going to turn into a big retaliation thing, so I will keep you all posted on what happens next, I'm sure there will be lots more to come! I think I started a big fued here, but as soon a I get my first call from the board of health or whoever comes to check up on my chicken situation, I will know who did it. I have had chickens for quite a while now, with no problems. I am allowed to have chickens, and the people here before me had them too. 500 chickens actually. But I am sure they are going to try anything to get back at me. I will keep you posted like I said!!!
