My Mean Neighbors are taking the next step! RANT!!!

This fella sounds like a nutcase, but there it is. You may have to retain your own attorney. If he really tries to take it to court you can try to have it tossed as spurious. And if that fails you can always try to force them to pay all of your expenses if he loses.

In our case, the District Attorney picked up on the neighbors side for barking dog ordinance without researching it being a farm protection dog. We had to hire an attorney and spend almost $2000 and got it dropped but had to get rid of our dog. It was said that if the dog was still there after the court decision, then the neighbor could still go and file after hours against the barking dog ordinance and keep doing this....

You should consider retaining a lawyer now to protect your interests.

I have a mean neighbor also
I went to the county zoning yesterday to check on set back rules for hog pens. There are none.I am going to the sale barn tomorrow to buy pigs to feed out for sale.Guess where my hog pen is going to be.First I have to clear the brush so it can be very visible. Then I am going to build right up to their fenceline. My neighbor's house is 50 ' from the property line. My house is 300' from where the hog pen will be.I wonder how useful their pool will be this summer? I hope that they have lizards to gobble up the flys that love hog pens. Did I mention that I have a pond and that hogs love to eat dead fish. This is going to be ugly.

call animal control. on yourself. get a detailed report, ask the officer if you need to change or fix anything. that way, even if this neighbor decides to go the legal route, you have county documentation from at least one department saying you are in compliance legally.

I just dont know about some ppl

Take pictures! Take pictures of all your pens and how they are situated on your property. If you do end up in court you will need pictures to show that your runs are well maintained.

Sounds like nutjob needs a nice quiet padded cell.

Amen to that.

But its ok for him to shot off fireworks (only the ground ones are permitted in CT), his hand gun (with a house behind him), and have an uncontained fire without a permit.
The guy trys to bully all the neighbors and we each have atleast 2 or more acres per person. He had threatened the neighbor that lived directly across the street from us because their dog barked to be let back in and was young. If the dog barked just once he would be yelling and screaming at the lady to shut that blank, blank dog up or its going to die. He acutally had the gall to drive over to her house when her husband was not home and tell her the dog would be found dead if she didn't do something about it. Well said nutcase had no clue my husband was home and he ran right over there.
Ever since then the guy want to cause trouble with us. The dude has no clue who he is messing with, but will find out very soon if he keeps his crap up. We will continue to call the cops on him, but if he ever steps foot on our property well like the sign says "if you can read this sign your in range". Ok we really wouldn't do that, but hubby would give a wooping that he would never forget.

Maybe I am to old (44). when I was growing up we had a town Idiot, now a days every street is trying to get the honor. My neighbor called me on my animals. I have 1 Black Rock, 3 Brown ISA's, 4 Silver Lace Wyndottes, 2 Rabbits, 2 Ducks, One dog. Animal Control came over and said, "This is BullSh**" and started taking notes and writing something on a form, I thought I was in major trouble. Come to find out the form was clearing me of any harm, that the neighbor was a troublemaker, and Animal control was never coming to my house again.
I did have ONE violation. I am only allowed 6 chickens where I live, I have 8. However he saw one coup and all the wood for the second. Told me he would help me get a permit if I wanted to double the chickens on property. I just might do that

We had animal control out 17 times since she called on us over a year and a half and we were in compliance with animal control laws as a Great Pyrenees is a livestock protection animal. We had documentation from animal control that every time they came out they said we were not breaking any laws. Once the District Attorney picks up the charge on noise ordinance, then that trumps animal law. It absolutely stinks, but we found out the hard way. Hopefully your local laws aren't as screwed up as ours in Buncombe County.

If you are doing nothing wrong, then they don't have a case. They may be blowing smoke.

Here's the NC Laws:
http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bychapter/chapter_68.html

"§ 68‑25. Domestic fowls running at large after notice.

If any person shall permit any turkeys, geese, chickens, ducks or other domestic fowls to run at large on the lands of any other person while such lands are under cultivation in any kind of grain or feedstuff or while being used for gardens or ornamental purposes, after having received actual or constructive notice of such running at large, he shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor.

If it shall appear to any magistrate that after three days' notice any person persists in allowing his fowls to run at large in violation of this section and fails or refuses to keep them upon his own premises, then the said magistrate may, in his discretion, order any sheriff or other officer to kill the fowls when they are running at large as herein provided. (C.S., s. 1864; 1971, c. 741, s. 1; 1993, c. 539, s. 540; 1994, Ex. Sess., c. 24, s. 14(c).)"
