My (meat) turkeys are too fat. Anything we can do?

ew! You're right, that's excessive and icky.

I don't even know what else to say on it lol. I have never raised a turkey for food, so I'm clueless and have no advice. But I can tell, that aint right.

Nice pics. You did a good job. I do see the fat. I think if you back off of the table scraps, bread and scratch grains, and feed straight turkey feed, the next batch will be ok.

Keep a record (pics) of your birds next time you process to include what you fed them so that you can compare, so that you can put your finger on the "fat" problem.

I think you have motivated me to go out and process a few birds myself.

Three more to go this next week.

We stopped giving them the scraps and discontinued the grain mix the day we butchered these two birds. They've only been getting regualr feed and whatever they can scrounge in our backyard.

Maybe get lucky and they'll have burned a bit of the excess fat off.
