My mom's HOME from surgery now...

I'm so sorry chick_newbie! Having lost my sister to breast/bone cancer 5 years ago, I can sadly relate. Hers also involved the lymphatic system, although only to a small degree. Sadly, her death was due to doctor mistakes, not the level of involvement in the lymphatic system. That Ninja's mom is very likely free of lymphatic involvement is a HUGE deal. Even with current diagnoses with lymphatic involvement, there are many more treatment options than there were when your mom and my sister were affected. Thank God!

Ladies, get your exams!

I know that Ninja is on Mom-Duty tonight, so we can all keep praying tonight until she has time to update us. I'm sure she's going to be one tired daughter. Hugs Ninja!

Sorry your mom had to go through this and I am glad it is looking good..Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Cindy

Just checking in to see if there is an update. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all for your continued support--it means a lot. This is the first time I've turned on my computer since Tuesday night, I think.

Mom's in a good deal of pain, naturally, but she is one tough lady. She is VERY glad to be home in her own bed this evening. My sister is staying with her tonight, then I'm going back over tomorrow. I made her a small cold plate very similar to the kinds of things I pack in my daughter's bento boxes for lunch, and she ate well, and said everything tasted so much better at home! Hopefully we can get her strength up fast.

Both our church family and the business community (with some considerable overlap between the two) in town are being super-supportive, so there will be no shortage of good help available should we need it.

And now I think I'm going to go right to bed, early for once!

Thanks for the update Ninja. That's very gracious of you, considering how tired you must be. You've been in my thoughts and prayers throughout.

Your mom is so fortunate to have the support of her daughters, her church, and the community. I'm sure that warms her heart!

Continued hugs to you.

:o Wowza! Home already? Boy, those hospitals don't keep you long and yes, your mom is one tough lady! I will remember your family and your mom in my prayers.

I don't know what I would ever do without my church family. Glad your mom has you and your sister to help take care of her as well as the church family.

My sister had breast cancer and was cancer free for 13 years and it wasn't in her lymph nodes. It has metatsized to her spine, but with the radiation and the Armidex the cancer is "asleep" as the doctors say and she can live a very long time which is good news for us.

Go and get some rest. Take care of yourself as well. Get your mammograms ladies!!

My grandmother had a radical mastectomy in her 60's and lived 15 years beyond that, wishing your mother a healthy and strong recovery too.
