My Muscovies are trying to pip - Pictures

They look great Kathy, hows the weak one from yesterday doing? Have you found anyone interested in any of them yet?
The weak one probably won't make it through the night. I've been tubing it, but I can't keep it hydrated. Maybe I'll try subcutaneous fluids.

I'm sorry to hear this, but I will say this you sure have tried. Are you in the medical field? you seem so knowledgeable about things.
How can you tell it's not hydrated?

Not in the medical field, just had lots of practice with cats, dogs, horses and poultry

and too cheap to go to a vet. To me it's eyes look dry, so that why I think it's dehydrated, plus it seems to have a hard time when I give it more than .3ml at a time and it's not really pooping very much.

What are you feeding it? I sure understand about not wanting to go to the vet. Just wish I had a bit more knowledge about treatments, but I am learning having treated this hen for bumble. and found the best way to give baytril is in a tiny piece of bread. [she never knew] I hope this lil one rallies for you.

I was feeding it Kaytee Exact Baby Bird Food mixed with Pediatyle, but it just died... I'll post some pictures of my baby tube set-up in case anyone ever wants to try it.

Thanks... I'm going to call the lab and talk to Dr. Prasad about things that can look like wry neck, maybe he'll have some answers. Whatever it is, I do believe it's contagious and/or environmental as the second one is starting to do the same thing.

Well if its mareks or something I know it can't transfer from inside the egg. I mean if the mother hen has it she can't pass it along to the embryo that's just starting to form. and that you should hatch your own eggs and not bring babies into your flock.

Another thought could be to much inbreeding causing some to be deformed..

Looking iffy... The pathologIst I just spoke with suspects that it's probably a bacterial infection like e. Coli. I asked about Baytril, and she said it's unlikely to work, something about the blood/brain barrier.

WOW, that's so sad... there's some stuff you can get for it. GRRR can't think of the name right now, let me look it up. hang on..
