Let say me I'm sorry for your troubles .:hugsOnly as far as Page two . I hope to read it all . BUT so there are those that succumb to terror cower and hide bend to the will of terrorist. Is that what I'm hearing here ?:thLIKE HELL :mad:under the laws in the State of Tennesse you would have been within your rights to defend yourself . With deadly force . I would have resorted to that method . You however did what a good citizen would do . Let the Law handle it . BUT BY GOD BACK UP YHE LAW. I can't abide a bully won't tolerate such behavior . That would be the same as if I shot at my new neighbors jackass . He is a loud annoying jackass . There are no noise limits in agriculture zoned areas in our state . Farmers couldn't work into the night to get valuable crops harvested were that the case . If you are within your zoning rights even if you just moved there then you have done no wrong .And for those of you that would bend to the will of terror .I feel sorry for you. For it is surely not the American way.JMO

@kwhites634 . is a bb or a pellet gun considered a fire arm by law?
here it depends on how it is used . As rule it's a toy . Used in a crime its a weapon It can be purchased as a toy . Make no mistake a well placed shot from a pellet rifle can be deadly even to a human .

Have you actually looked into this, or are you just going by what "everybody knows?"

My state is what they call a "stand your ground" state; if I feel that I am seriously threatened with possible death or injury, I have the right to use whatever force I feel I need to use to defend myself, and that includes deadly force, whether I am at home or not. If someone is trying to break into my car when I am parked at the grocery store, I would be within my legal rights to shoot them. Of course, I might wind up having to convince a jury of my peers that my fear was justified . . . :idunno

But yes, it is better to try to avoid putting oneself into a situation like that in the first place, if possible.

Interestingly, though you need a license to own a firearm here, apparently it has to have gunpowder involved to be considered a firearm. Even high-powered air rifles are not considered firearms. . . . . maybe this kind of explains how a pair of known loose cannons like your neighbors could be shooting at you?

Not to stir the pot, but to follow up:
I visited my next door neighbors this morning to be sure that the crowing wasn't annoying anyone else.

They informed me that the crowing was not a bother to them at all and that they liked my chickens and had been admiring them for some time now.

They also informed me that they were related though marriage to the neighbor who shot at me, but NEVER spoke to him because he and his dad were mentally unstable and not nice people. They advised my husband and I not to go down there and try to be friendly, but to report to the police if anything else happened, and then they offered to help me watch the coop from here on out.

It's nice to know one set of neighbors has our backs!
I also found three pellets sunk fast into the wood of my coop and run as well as a dozen other nicks and dings from deflected pellets. I took photos and emailed them as instructed to one of the officers who responded to our call yesterday, explaining that I wanted them put on file for when we press charges the next time something like this happens.

I was standing at the gate just inches to the left of where this pellet landed.

Let's just say, our first time calling the cops was a warning shot. The next time will be a sting mission.
NOW you're talking!! Time to take off the gloves. :thumbsup:thumbsup
