MY NEIGHBORS CAT!!!!!

I have the same problem with neighbor cats. This one likes to hide in my vegetable garden and stare at the chicken coop all day, so when I get home from work to let the chickens out, I have to get the hose, turn it up to the jet spray, and sho nuff, some mangy fur blob will go flying over my fence.

Cats hate water. I've been turning the sprinklers on in the back end of the yard by the coop when I let the chickens out, but still I get freaked if I have to run in the house for anything.

Do you have a local humane society? Sounds like a neighbor with 8 cats and 2 pregnant is not a very responsible pet owner. Unless people breed responsibly...spay and neuter!

Glad your babies are OK.

Iv had a problem with my neighbors dog. It was a Hound dog and it kept coming in my yard trying to break into my chicken cages night after night. I contacted his landlord and all he said was he would have a talk with him. We didnt have a leash law here and he went on to tell me he owned pretty much all the land around me. UGH Anyways, I don't know if he had talked to him or not but it didn't stop. One morning I took my 2 year old out with me to feed the chickens and caught his dog in action who had broken under one of my pens and had killed 2 of my chickens and was just thowing there lifeless bodies around. When i screamed at him he came lunging at me and my 2 year old. I picked up a shovel and hit him with it and he went running. I wasn't going to take this so I called the law. The cops went to his house and when they got there he claimed the dog didnt belong to him. Which i knew it did because he had it since it was a pup. Anyways they called the pound and they took it and rehomed it. So atleast i got rid of that problem but I know how you feel about neighbors who just dont care. Funny thing now he owns chickens and I wonder how he would feel if it was the other way around?? Since that dog is gone I don't have anymore problems with anything trying to break into my pens.

:(Moderators: Since this is a Family oriented group and children are on here learning from "adults" I would personally like to see any posts on any subject that contain the advice such as inhumanely killing animals with antifreeze removed...What in the world are we as adults teaching with such postings?

I personally am not a fan of poisoning animals because it is indiscriminate. A well-aimed .22 round at a field lion works quite well and quickly too.

Antifreeze has been changed recently too. It no longer tastes sweet to animals because they've added a bitter element to it. Makes me feel a lot better about my dog being around my truck that occasionally leaks antifreeze.

I would never use antifreeze...
Obviously the neighbour doesn't care...I'd trap all the cats that I could and take em off to the nearest shelter...especially since they're "strays"...

I like cats fine, and have even owed some myself. It's not the cats, it's the irresponsible owners!

I have the same problems with neighbor cats. Not spayed or neuterd!

Needless to say alot of feral cats. not cared for,no immunizations. Running loose to produce more kittens! Why?

There are progams with the Humane Society to spay and neuter pets. They will even help if you can afford the whole cost.

I keep my GSD on a leash to keep their cats safe, even in my own yard because it's not totally fenced.

I think cats should have to leashed to keep my chickens safe. They come in my yard.

No win situation:confused: FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!

I could just see my GSD chasing their cat who was in my yard into their yard and killing it. Most likely my dog would be called a killer, and probably put to sleep!

We have lots of feral cats around here as well, seems to be a dumping ground for cats and then when they inevitably breed, the kittens are very wild, its a vicious cycle.

A few people have done trapping with humane traps/neuter/spay etc. but that doesnt solve the problem of them being predators.(They are generally released again. At least then they cant breed.)
I am lucky in that our dogs (though good with our cats) chase any strays out of the yard.

Well - I just saw this post - and I think that some of you are really sick individuals. Maybe if some of you would be a little more respectful of your neighbors and not put the darn coop right on the edge of your neighbor's yard - where it's out of your sight and right in there.- you wouldn't have this problem. If it wasn't right there - the cat wouldn't see it - and it shouldn't be there anyway. I hope all of you people talking of poisoning, etc. get exactly what you deserve.

Nice to know that Rice kills chickens too. I myself and getting sick of my neighbor's (if you want to call them that) chickens running amuck all over my yard, and dumping lice, and they won't shut up.
