seemed to be born fine, until about 1/2 hour later. Now there's blood coming out the "bottom" somewhere. Belly was big and round. Seems like a lot of blood for such a little body. Is there anything I can or should do?

It sounds like maybe the umbilical cord was ripped or something. There should be a little wound about a half inch up the belly from the vent. That's probably where she's bleeding from. I would wrap her in a warm wet paper towel (around the umbilical area) and put her under a light or back in the 'bator. And make sure she drinks some water.

I have had this happen before. I put a dab of flour on it to stop the bleeding.
Hope the little guy makes it

You've given me hope :-) Hard as it is I'm trying not to open the incubator lid.

LOVE the flour tip. I'd been considering my hubby's styptic pencil.

Little lakenvelder is doing great. The bleeding had stopped when I got back from a meeting--didn't have to intervene with the flour. I made sure it got a drink of water and it isfine. It's big roly poly belly did deflate quite a bit.

So glad the bleeding stopped! Lil one giving your problems from the start will most likely have the best personality!
