my peas =)

as some of you have seen i just entered the world of peas.
so i thought i would introduce piper and buddy to you guys.
i also have 2 eggs in the bator (on day 2) and am getting 2 more eggs today




piper is very helpful with the computer as you can see




piper also loves the camera. and thinks he should be the center of attention (as you can see in the background budddy is not feeling well)


piper is quick to pout when i move him away from the camera.
also im thinkin piper is split to white.(the bottom wing feathers?) correct?



this is buddy with their silkie friends.
he is a little under the weather. fighting pneumonia.
hoping he pulls thru

They are adorable! I hope that buddie fends off his pneumonia. And yep, those little white flights mean piper is split to something with white (could also be split to pied).

well ive seen their parents. and i know none of the 3 (its a trio) are pied. but i guess they could have pied in their background.
also didnt see any white feathers on the hens nor the peacock.
so thats why i wasnt sure.
im totaly inlove with my peas already.
they are actually 1 week old tomarrow. and buddy is still alive(hes been sick since we got him. he was free since he was on deaths door. hes a fighter thats for sure.)

Sorry your baby is sick, i did not know birds could get pneumonia how does that happen? hope the little thing gets better and that pneumonia is not contagious for the rest of the flocks sake.

im not sure. when i got him he was in the brooder and was cold. the quail they were in with had pushed him away and im assuming had stepped all over him. he was barely alive so i put him in the incubator. fully expecting him to pass on. couple hours later he was up and around. has curled toes. so i taped them and back in the incubator her went for a little while longer. that eveing he joined piper in the brooder. and just seemed exhausted. the next day he still acted strange. and by day 3 you could hear he was breathing weird. and by day 4 he was gasping for breath and you could see liquid in his throat. so i got duramyacin. and have put it in the waterer. so everyone is being treated just in case. buddy has to be given his meds via syringe because he refuses to eat or drink and has done so since day 1. i force feed him twice a day .

Try a couple drops of ploy-vi sol vitamins for children(no iron) works wonders here.

and hes also got an issue either inside/with his rear end. hes got what i would conside pasty butt. that i cant get cleared up. and i read that in peafowl you CANT clear it up.
i would hate to cull such a fighter.

Bad news. I purchased a peachick several years ago with the "butt issue" it is not pasty butt and I was told by a well-known breeder it is a deformity and it will not fix itself. He told me to cull it. I tried for weeks to keep it clean but it didn't work. Someone else on here I can't remember had that same issue with the same outcome. Some just aren't fit for survival. Not your fault.

i guess ill have to come to this conclusion.
the last thing i wanna do is cull him.
but i guess i will have to.
ill give him a couple more days. mainly so piper isnt lonely. im getting a couple more peachicks sunday or monday (whenever he hatches them)
but i will stop holding out soo much hope for him i guess
