My pekin is definetly broody. She has been sitting her eggs for almost two weeks. Really hard for the past week. She has started hissing if you go near her nest like a goose will. I'm so glad she is sitting!

Everyone said she wouldnt, but she has! None of her eggs that I tried incubating hatched. I put them all in a skillet bator and someone bumped it knocking the temp off. Storey's guide says that Pekins make better broodys and mothers than muscovies, but everyone I talked to, including on here, told me that the sit had been bred out of them. Looks like I have one out of non commercial stock! Cross your fingers for a hatch!

congratulations!!

My Jumbo Pekin hatched a scovie egg last year and she made a fabulous Mamma.
My regular Pekin Hen has hatched 2 eggs this past week and she's doing a wonderful job too. She hatched one of her own eggs which is a Pekin/Mallard mix and hatched a pure Mallard egg
I'll be keeping her baby, named it Tuxie, but will be giving the pure mallard to a friend who's getting all of my hatched mallard eggs (17 so far LOL).
