"My Pet Chicken" is it trustworthy? *POST YOUR CHICKS FROM MPC!*

See now, that coinsides more with what I was told.... maybe it's just certain breeds they get from Meyer. hmmm? I KNOW their hatching eggs are Gabbard Farm hatching eggs. Gabbard put their name all over the box when it arrived. lol. I wonder if MPC knows that.

With my experience? VERY trustworthy! I got my 4 chicks from there, and it was great. I, being new to everything about chickens, had thousands of questions that I emailed to MPC's staff. (I didn't know this site existed at the time!) They were very considerate and answered my questions promptly and accurately. My girls arrived all warm and cozy in their box, and thrived through chick-hood very well. All of them are still alive and well and I love them with all my heart! Silly little piles of feathers.

I'm thinking of ordering a few more sometime later this year; hopefully I'll get the same fantastic results.

Best of luck to you and your future chickens!

They are based in CT but when brokers sell chicks the label is from the hatchery they are shipped from with the originating zip code where they were mailed from and air tag in many cases from what airport they fly from-..the MPC chicks had an MPC label with a CT address..theirs and their zip code was the originating shipping point not another hatchery.
When I joked with the PO that the plane must have been late...they were over an hour later than they should have been with Meyer she looked puzzled and told me they were indeed not on that shipment they shipped from CT not Meyer and indeed flew out of a CT airport..so they must hatch their own or have a local hatching for them...either way they were not healthy chicks..not saying others haven't had healthy chicks from them but I'll take my money to the other hatcheries when it's time to add more legs to my collection.

I ordered 9 from MPC and they all arrived a day after hatch in mid april , healthy and vigorous. All nine survived and are now starting to lay. All were sexed properly and I couldn't be happier! Customer service was great as well. One of my girls was very late to feather properly and they answered my questions promptly and to the best of their ability and gave me an unsolicited credit on my next order. I was very happy with them and would certainly recommend them.

I've ordered from them twice, and have been very happy both times. As far as the 'they are the same as Meyer goes', what I've heard is that they own some of their own stock, and get some eggs from the same sources that Meyer uses, and that they rent incubator space from Meyer, but employ their own sexers.

I ordered 14 assorted hens and 1 rooster from MPC in June All 14 of them arrived happy and healthy, and I only had one unexpected rooster in the bunch (my favorite, naturally)

I ordered my girls from MPC and they came the day after hatch- healthy and vigorous - all were girls.

Here they are the day they arrived

Here they are all grown up

I will definitely order from them again- I'm looking forward to having enough room to take advantage of their 25 pullet special.

I had ordered Blue orpington eggs from my pet chicken. I called them to make sure what lines they had come from, they responded quite quickly. They told me that the blue orpington eggs came from the "Korfus" line. I would imagine Korfus Kluckers? My eggs arrived right on time, none broken, and out of a dozen I got 10. So not bad I think.

I had two very bad experiences with mypetchicken.com. The first chicks i ordered were 1 golden laced, 1 buff laced, and 1silver laced polish, 1 easter egger, 1 blue cochin, and 1 speckled sussex. The speckled sussex from the day i got her was very slow and died in 3 weeks and the golden laced polish rooster has a croked beek, and they were all supposed to be hens and they were all largefowl. The second batch i got was 1 partridge silkie hen, 1 blue silkie hen, 1 red silkie hen, and 2 buff silkies hen and roo, 1 mille fleur duccle hen, and a black frizzle cochin hen. The buff silkie roo died before it got here and the partridge hen couldnt stand when it got here and died that day. Then the buff silkie hen wasnt bearded or crested, the red silkie hen turned out to be a rooster and the frizzles feathers are long and brittle. I will never order from them again.
