My Pet Chicken

I am soo glad to hear the positive experiences, I have 8 on the way from MPC to arrive around June 10th. The packaging and green gel is very impressive. I will post lots of pictures when they arrive... I can't wait !

Mine are shipping Monday too! I had a bit of panic when I got a call I would have to pick up 4 hives of bees that Tuesday they are supposed to deliver. Luckily that supplier was understanding and I 'm gettin gthe bees this week, chicks next week.

Here's another question about MPC: What does their stock look like? That is, I know they aren't show quality, but are they at least nice?

A friend and I plan to order a few day-olds from them in a few weeks, but we'll only have 4-6 each and we want to be sure they're pretty!

Thanks for any info (or pics!)...

MPC order came today. Mailed from CT the box showed and made it here by noon today. Progel and heat pack and 6 chicks intact. I ordered 3 Appenzellers and 3 Belgium d'Uccles. They are little fuzz balls and look great. I think the beaks were clipped. No pasty butt either.

I'm happy with them and will order again.

When my son and I walked into the post office to pick them up we could hear them chirping all the way from the back. They def have good lungs.

Their beaks are clipped? Did you ask for that or did they just do it? I don't think I would want my chicks to have clipped beaks.

Is this something that MPC just does? Can you ask them not to clip beaks?

I'm sorry for all the questions, but I just have never heard of getting chicks from a hatchery with clipped beaks!

I used MPC for their juvenile mille fluer's. Four weeks ago I received a pair, hen and roo. It was supposed to be two-pair and a mistake was made at the hatchery. I called and they immediately took care of the problem, shipping out the additional pair the following Monday. Both times I received the chicks on Wednesday morning, first thing.

Unfortunately we had a coon attack and kill one of the hens. I called them the next day and asked if they would send out a hen or two since I now had two roos and one hen. Customer service called the hatchery, related the story and they felt so bad, they sent out a single hen.

She was shipped out yesterday and arrived this afternoon. Fastest arrival yet! I was worried about the older chicks being in transit but all three times they were incredibly healthy, eating and drinking immediately but not overtly stressed.

I was so impressed with their customer service and quality chicks that I ordered 10 silkies to arrive next week and 10 frizzles to arrive around June 2.

As far as their appearance, while I wouldn't classify them as "show quality", the mille's even as young as they are, are beautifully colored and the roos have gorgeous colors.

These were older chicks, approximately 17-18 weeks old but their beaks were intact. Not sure what they do with the babies, but I'll see next week. Maybe it was the particular hatchery they were received from.

I just received my 5 white Silkies today. They told me they would ship out the week of the 11th and I got them the 12th. Chicks look great. The packing was outstanding. There was a lot of straw, some green stuff and a heat pack. If I have emailed them, I have gotten a reply right back. So my one experience with them is really good.

I have chicks coming from Cackle in June... so I can tell y'all about them next. Oh and also some hatching eggs coming from MPC later in the month.

Actually, one has a crooked beak... Its little beak doesn't shut quite right.

Ok i have some questions, just to ask....

Why is it that all of the other hatcherys have a minimum of 25 chicks but MPC has min. of 3?

Does MPC have packing peanuts?

Where is MPC?

thanks...im just wondering, though i dont have chicks, or wont be getting any....
