Hi BYC,

It has been three years since I've visited this site because I had a string of major catastrophies in my coop and basically ran away for some time. I have since rehabbed my coop and here I am.
Anyway, yesterday, I posted in the diseases and cure forum with a question about some sick chicks with the topic title 'Back in the saddle. Avian pox, help'. I came back yoday to see if anyone responded and the post has vanished.
To add to the mystery, I had to reregister today. Any ideas?

Oh, and also, the time zone selection in the registration process is very confusing (for me at least). I know Eastern, Central, Mountain, etc., but what are those +5s and -1s?

LOL, Rob.
I remembered the post because I was looking for the same info for a friend.

Hey Mike!!!! I remember you, do you remember me? We traded eggs about a zillion years ago! I sent you Pekin and Welsh Harlequin duck eggs but unfortunately although some developed, they died before hatching, according to my notes. You sent Ameraucana and Jap eggs to me. The first shipment was destroyed in the mail except for one egg that the post office wrapped up and returned to you!! I wasnt able to hatch any of the japs, and I dont remember about the ameraucanas, but I do remember that there was one Mystery egg that hatched. It produced a lovely sweet little cross bred pullet with 5 toes. I eventually gave her to Rob / Nifty Chicken!!!

What kind of birds are you currently raising?

Im sorry to hear that you had coop problems, and now the avian pox! But, Im glad that you are back.

Hi Chel,

Yes, I remember you! When I was a kid, the phrase 'time flies' mean't little to me. I mean days lasted forever! Now 'flies' doesn't even cover it. 'hurtles' is more accurate.
That coop just sat there for such a long time and was such a depressing place considering all of the activity, babies and fun it used to represent. It couldn't stay empty forever. So now I have black birchen cochens, silver wheaten, blue gold and bb red old english, mille fleur d'uccle (never could spell that one!) and sumatra.
I'm glad that the mystery egg hatched. That was, I believe, a silkie/ameraucana cross. Did it have a small crest?

Mike

Yes, the Mystery chick had a small swept back crest so we called her Elvis. She was a great little hen. Maybe I should put a couple silkies in with my Ameraucana or Araucana cockbirds and see what we get. Or was your cross from a silkie rooster over an Ameraucana hen?
LOL, what ever she was, Elvis was cute!

Good to see you back. Now you have two boards to try to keep up with!

Chel
