My power went out this morning

Our forecast is saying up to 6 inches - our high on Monday is going to be 8. Today's high is going to be 50 - so we're getting ready for it, I need to send the kids outside to play cause they won't be able to go out for a couple of days... or not without bundling up so much they can' tMOVE.

I hate that! My kids are going stir crazy from being cooped up here with me for the last week or so.

Outages happen here weekly. It's so frustrating when I have eggs in the bators and chicks in the brooder. Sorry you lost one, but I'm glad the power is back again.

As expensive as this is, I don't think I'd go for it unless I lived way off the grid, but it is an interesting set up.

Lehman's IS a fantastic place though.

I have a redwood, tabletop, kerosene incubator made by Buckeye in the 1920's. I've never run it on kerosene but want to convert it to electric.

I was trying to think of a simple battery backup scheme that anybody could pull off. I think the easiest would be to buy a power inverter that will plug into your car's cigarette lighter or power receptacle:

Plug this into your car and run a 100' extension cord into the house. Run car as necessary to keep the battery charged.

Y'all have reminded me I need to buy a couple of space blankets to throw over the 'bators when the power is out. Those things are small, but they sure will hold the heat in.
