my quail pen tht i just finished building was torn apart and quail r gone. what do u think did it? p

I just finished building my quail pen with my dad 2 days ago and i let the quail in it. Checked in it this morning at 10am and they were fine than my dad checked them at 5pm and the quail were gone and my pen is messed up. I dont know what it was but i do know that my neighbors have a evil dog that keeps getting under our fence and tore up my raspberry plant shreded leaves and the root ball. I guess it could have done similar damage except the back section is a weird hole. I have also seen foxes in our neighborhood.

Also what should i do instead. Any other wire thats mot too expensive and is stronger that can take that

Awww sorry to hear what happend.. I put my quails in pens raised so no predetor can get to then...

Depends on where you live. Raccoon or badger.

Put strips of plywood around it about a foot high.

Dont coons climb though. Cant they just climb up and over that and rip a hole to get in. Do you have photos demonstrating what u mean by strips of plywood a food high.?

My run is 6ft tall 4ft wide and 12 ft long

eventually a racoon might climb up and tear through the wire but you have to understand that when he tore that hole before he had all the leverage of his weight spread across 4 legs. When he is hanging fromt he wire he wouldn't be able to apply half that force.

I don't have a picture. It's just a plywood border around the bottom edge. You could use metal roofing or anything that comes in a flat sheet and can be cut.

My cages have plywood around the edges and 1/2"x1/2" hardware cloth running 2 ft. above that. However you said something cheap and hardware cloth is not cheap.
