Delaware rooster. Haha. I had to go back and see what I had written. Sorry about that though. He is a white bird with some black lacing. Quite attractive and prob my fav cause he got sick as a young boy and I nursed him for around 3 months. But I have a soft spot for those boys, not sure why though. Haha, oh well maybe they keep me with baby chicks all around. But mainly cause they are beautiful. Yep a softie I am.but I sure think your Red is the prettiest Red Star roo I have ever seen. Oh wow the babies you will have. Just a little envious.

Oh are you from Virginia?

No its the ear lobes that you look at and his are red, you are looking at the feathery covering of the ear hole and that doesnt matter, that is going to be what ever color the bird is.

Thanks Clint for the earlobe information!

Chicken lady,
I've seen Delawares and I do think they are beautiful birds! Yes, I'm from southwestern Virginia in the mountains.
I love raising chicks too with all the assorted colors even though some of them are mutts. Our little Banty has been such a good mama. She made her babies go up on the roost with her at 7 weeks. The brown patterned chick was on the ground and couldn't figure out how to get up and was chirping. She just wanted to snuggle with the others as usual, but the Banty Mama thought they were too old for that. I put her up on the roost which is about a foot high and she kept trying to put her head under her sister's wing to get warm She finally fell off and knocked her sister off the roost too. I put her back again. My husband checked her late that night and had to put her back up. He was afraid she'd freeze on the floor by herself. Somehow she stayed up on the roost all night after that.

There are single combed RIWs too

Agreed. Yes its true that real RIWs only come in Rose Comb but I was talking about the Single Combed hatchery RIWs that are commonly used in Sexlink crosses. That color has Dominant White covering the black, you are not going to get dominant white from breeding with a Delaware and you shouldnt get it from a White Rock either but there are probably some strains by now that do carry it. And again remember that with hatchery crosses, especially Stars, you can definitively say they are a cross of this breed on that breed becuase a lot of the time they are specialized 3 or 4 way crosses.
