well, who caught him to put the sock on? you can try tempting him over with food or sneaking up on him when he sleeps, could be dangerous. You need to get a hold of him somehow. i don't know if it is a 99% chance but it seems like it would be a high chance.

Eating a sock could indeed kill him. Do not give him socks.. Take him to a vet.. He might need surgery if the sock pieces get stuck. And why are you trying to stop his crowing..? It's a natural rooster habit and in my opinion it sounds nice.

I'm usually not a snot.. but this is a joke right??? 1 is he wearing the sock and picking at it and if you cant catch him to take it off how did you catch him to put it on???? do you think the sock will keep him from crowing or is there another reason why he has it on?? where would you get an idea like that from?? and if u ate a sock how do you think you would feel????

It seems like you have not thought through all the issues with chicken keeping. Perhaps it would be useful to go to the learning center and begin to learn more on chicken care, keeping, diseases, predators and such.
Just like you would not want a dog to eat a sock, you also do not want a chicken to eat one!

How will the sock kill him?

It could get stuck and cause a blockage, which causes death if not cleared. The rooster can not digest a sock, and may not be able to poop it out. If you ate piece of sock, you might be able to poop it out, if it doesn't get stuck, but a chicken has a very different system.
