My rooster has a bad leg.

Hi My Americana rooster has a knot/swollen leg. He hops on one foot now. the swollen knot is at the joint where the leg and thigh meet. I see no wounds in the area.I thought it might have been bumble foot at first but his foot look fine. the knot looks like it is getting bigger. Is there anything I can do for him? I just don't want him to suffer. Joe

How old is he, have you checked him for wounds, does the leg move normally, and is he eating layer feed. A couple of thoughts would be an injury, or perhaps gout if he's on layer feed, or an infection in the joint, I might try him on a round of antibiotics if it feels hot or is more red. Check for scale mites as well.
