My rooster has lost his appetite and eats the strangest of things

You aren't using a feeder made from pvc pipe are you? The various no spill style feeders commonly found on pinterest are often causing problems for roosters and birds with big wattles. They can't fit their heads inside without injury in some cases and some birds have actually starved to death.
Good luck getting him better!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone's replies!!!!

Francis is back up and looks much healthier. He's back to scratching and eating with his favorite hen beside him (though she does peck him occasionally)

I wanted to get a picture of him eating but he was too quick for me! and so were the other hens. Hopefully you can spot him in the picture where I'm feeding them so leftover rice.


He's much more social now with both the other hens and me. The black hen in the picture is who he's most attached to though. And his appetite now is amazing- He steals snacks from me and runs away every single time!
