My Rooster is attacking one of my hens!!

Sorry I was away from the site for so long. Life got busy!

The problem I had worked itself out. I found out the Roosters may pick on any hens who don't allow them to mate. So after the pullets were a month or so older, he accepted them.

Hope things work out for the new Brahma chicks my son surprised me with!

Welcome to BYC!

It's best if you start a new thread here:

....and give all the details of the situation, like age of birds, how long they've lived together, other birds present, housing, if it's new behavior, etc.

Im having the same issue my hampshire red is attacking one of my hens. I have 9 all together i just started my coop. The reds are about to lay but my hen looks like a mutt (not an EE) its only her really as well all are about to lay and i have younger EE chicks he leaves alone. He's trying to mate at times others he's aggressive. Hes a pretty roo too. My mating roo

I really do not understand, when I say attacking I really mean attacking. The roo was flogging her pretty bad, almost took out an eye and pretty deep cuts on her chest and neck. Now the hen just goes to my neighbors house during the day or hangs out in the woods until time to roost but still roosts with them but is not seen in the daytime.
Awww poor baby get rid of that rooster
