My rooster is laying on eggs? In a nesting box?

He is probably broody. I have had two roosters go broody before he may attack you if you try to remove him or his eggs.
Just watch to see what he does....he may be attempting to be helpful or he could be up to no good (eating eggs) or he could just be bored.

How long has been sitting? Is he making any noises or letting the hens come back in to lay? How old is he?
Okay, I asked more questions than offering answers.. But I will say that in nature.. I never stop being awed by creation!
He could also be trying to encourage the girls to lay in that box, like "Hey look at this nice pad, ladies!" *waggling eyebrow*
Likely showing the gals a good nesting site. Most if mine in my Phoenix (and apparently cochin/mix flock now due to other reasons) nest in places the flock master picks out.
It is possible, but usually unlikely. Most of the time they are guarding a box, or showing the hens that is a good place to lay.

I think it’s absolutely adorable I just wasn’t sure if it was normal behavior he is just now coming to maturity just started crowing yesterday
