My rooster laid an egg

I'm not convinced that's a boy. Looks like a wet pullet to me! Especially if it's the same age as the other roo

x2!!! the eggs was there prior

x3 that's very possible, but then, why would he go in the box?

I have two roos that go into nesting boxes. They make nests for their girls and they will sit on eggs until their hens come back to lay--it is the sweetest thing. They cluck relentlessly until the hens check out what they are doing....It normal for them to do that but it doesnt happen with all roos....

Those are the good boys I keep-they are the sweetest things ever!!!!

I am not going to guess on the sex of that chicken (I had a molting pullet that looked kinda like that - and it could also be a wet pullet

) , but my roo (100% sure!) is in the nesting box all the time, even sitting with his butt up like he's laying an egg. As others have said, they do it to show em where a nice place might be to lay that egg.

I have a hen that lays eggs and crows. It is possible.

Your bird looks like an EE mix of some type - looks like a standing comb rather than a pea comb? Perhaps this is making ID difficult?

I'd love to see a live video feed of your nestbox
