My sick chicken

Oh when I pulled the huge scab off that bad eye a big glob of yellow stuff went with it. So luckily most of it came out with that.

try applying a little pressure to the slit with one finger and areas around the eyes and nostrils and try to "milk out" more pus. This link explains how a vet might a nasal flush:

I'm not suggesting that you do a flush/surgery, but you might find some useful info it it.

@Lynnsfarm , how much Baytril have you been giving? If it were mine, I would give 0.09ml per pound orally once a day for five days. I would *never* give it in the drinking water, which is what a couple of places suggest. Orally or by injection are the best way.

I have been giving 1/2 cc as it doesn't weigh a pound. Down throat with tube attached to syringe.

That's probably too much huh? I don't have much left either. Maybe 3 doses. I'll stop it and keep for after this stuff comes out. Or should I say until I get the puss stuff out of it....I do realize I cant do the full flush but I might try gently pulling on syringe in nostril and see what comes out.
If I do put fluid in there Im risking drowning bird correct? Thanks again

Quote: Is it 10% (100mg/ml) or 2.27% (22.7mg/ml) or something else?

10% dose for a one pound bird is 0.09ml, that's less than 0.1ml.
2.27% dose for a one pound bird is 0.4ml, just under 1/2cc.

Important to know which one you have. Is it one of the ones listed? Or is it left over from from the vet for a cat or dog? If it's from the vet, check the expiration date.

Its left over from my goose and yes it is expired. By 8 months. It had been in refrigerator and smells and looks exactly as it did last year. It has helped I think. Breathing is better and its more active.
It even took a drink on its own today which is first in 3 weeks. Im just guessing of course. As has been mentioned all over there are no vets that see chickens here either. The only Avian vet here barely knew anything about my goose when she had her beak (top) bitten off to the nostrils. He said IF she doesn't eat call me... um duh. Then I call and he's out for 2 weeks on vacation. I had to
look up what to tube feed her myself because his staff didn't even know she was an omnivore. Then the stuff to help her beak grow back crucial item.. I paid 90 dollars for but I didn't get it in bag. So on her checkup after it was too late for the medicine to do anything to help her beak reform. They gave me the medicine instead of my 90 dollars. She has 3/4 of it back one side is there she just turns her head to eat. Anyway that's my choice for a vet. 800 dollars later lol. I have some of the medicine that was given for her. Sorry for the rant I just get so frustrated with vets nowadays.

Sorry it is 13.6 mgm is what it says. It said to give goose 2.3 mg 2x a day. Goose weighed 6 lbs. I doubt this chick weighs a pound

Sounds like the vet crusshed a pill and added water. The amount I give mine is 9mg per pound. Can you post a picture of the bottle?

I know you're on a fixed income, but I think you need to buy more Baytril and up her dose to 7-9 mg once a day. Do you have a credit card?
