I wasn't sure where to post this but here seemed appropriate. This is a project that I am very excited about and it kinda came about unexpectedly. Ever since I have seen photos of pure silver duckwing Ameraucana's I have wanted them. They are so lovely and I hope to breed them someday. When I hatched my first batch of chicks I had one hatch out that I was quite certain was an EE roo because I had ordered EE's a few times in the past and all the ones that looked similar to this chick were males whereas the more plain colored ones were girls. Anyways this chick grew up into a lovely silver duckwing pullet. Wow! A fluke right? Nope. In every hatch since I have had these lovely silver duckwing pullets pop up. 2 out of 12, 1 out of 11, 4 out of 42, and 4 out of 34.
I don't know what hen(s) these chicks are coming from or even of they are "pure" EE or if they are OE's. The flock these came from consists of one "silverish" colored EE roo "Rooster" (pictured below) and the hens are 3 EE's (1 pure white, 1 orange/black, and one brown/orange/black), 3 Speckled Sussex, 3 Black Giants, 3 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, 3 Polish, 3 Welsummers, and 3 Buff Orpingtons. All my silver duckwing pullets have green legs and muffs and I'm pretty sure they all have pea combs. I currently have 6 of them of different ages and I wish to start my breeding project.
Now my main dilemma is this: I have no silver duckwing cockerels. At least I don't think so. The one "silverish" cockerel I do have with green legs does not look like what a true silver duckwing rooster should. Again, at least I don't think so. He looks a lot like what my rooster did when he was young, which isn't what I want. Now I don't expect a perfect silver duckwing boy to come from my mixed bunch but I was hoping for something that came close that would be useful for breeding.
I did go take a look at what color cockerels that my buyers ended up with, and two came close, but they both have yellow legs so they either came from my BLRW or my Welsummers. Ugh. Since I am hoping these girls are "pure" EE's (won't know until the oldest begins to lay) I don't want to mix in other blood.
At this point I am hoping to either come across some cheap silver duckwing Ameraucana hatching eggs (not likely), or a surplus silver duckwing Ameraucana cockerel close to me (also not likely). I do have one off sport silvery chick that I was hoping would be a rooster (how often does someone hope that? LOL) but I am quite sure it is a female. Ugh.
Anyway here are some photos

My oldest silver duckwing pullet hatched 4-17-12

My middle silver duckwing pullet hatched 6-12-12. She has a bit of reddish coloring on her.

One of my youngest silver duckwing pullets hatched 7-11-12

My off sport silvery pullet? hatched 7-11-12

My "silverish" cockerel, hatched 6-12-12. He has reddish feathers coming in like Rooster's.

So does anyone have some surplus silver duckwing Ameraucana cockerels they are willing to rehome? Or some hatching eggs?
Thanks for looking!
