:loveHi! So my hubby let me get two TSC straight run bantams (didn’t know this at the time) for our anniversary and luckily I grabbed two of the same breed that HE’S in love with! :yesss: SEABRIGHTS! This is our first year with chickens, so everything is a complete adventure/ experiment! I asked the kid working if they were sexed. He said yes they were all pullets. (We already returned two silkie roo’s to the breeder!)

Anyways, fast forward four weeks. I have this sweet little Golden Seabright who’s in love with me named Eva and her Silver sister Norma, who’s skittish at first but is very happy to be held and snuggled! Well, one day woke up and realized Eva is actually/ most likely an Earl! Hubby fully agrees. We’ Ok with it. We live in the country. No neighbors.

I’d love to hear your opinions :idunno But I’ve read such terrible things about Seabright roo’s being mean :hitWill he suddenly change towards me? And will they be ok once we eventually integrate them with our 10 week old chicks? 1 EE, 2 Sapphire Gems, and 1 runt of a Buff Orpington with an attitude that she’s as big as a Jersey Giant! Hahaha

A straight run is not sexed, the cashier must have been mistaken. As for breed, they have different type combs, i am kind thinking you don't have a sebright in earl, he has a single comb instead of a rose.
Hatchery sebrights (and sometimes poor breeding stock) can have singke combs. My friend had a male Sebright from a breeder (!) who had a single comb.

Cackle also sells some select sexed bantams but most of them are autosexed such as Crele Old English- the males look different than the females.

@Cyprus, does that sex link method work for all silver and gold laced breeds or just sebrights?
All silver and gold laced breeds :) Or any silver and gold variety, for that matter.

Duckwings
Partridge/ silver pencilled
Buff x Black Barred
Mille Fleur x Silver Mille Fleur
Gold x Silver anything
Etc
