my very own micro farm

A few days to breath, a few days to catch up things.
Alot of birds running around.
I need to kick that mallard off her nest, eggs are getting gross and shes long overdue. Just need to make sure she stays healthy and wire about hatching more ducklings later, not that I'm in a shortage, still 19 of the 20 that are running around, running around.
Turkeys first night out last night and they seem fine. We've been putting them out during the day, Qbert was the first to greet them. all good. It's still a little nerve racking leaving the new ones out the first couple days.
Spending time watering and tending to the plants in general. Some pests to contend with, Buffalo leaf hoppers and various catipllars to be specific.
Alot of compost to dump and more to pick up. Also need to change out the bedding in the coops, really bolsters that pile up as well.
Just keeping one foot forward.

Onwards and upwards

So when i got home yesterday the broody hen i set up with some eggs in a small pen managed to get out and not back in so theres no telling weather the four hona eggs under her are going to hatch or not but were placed in the incubator as soon as i discovered the situation.
The tank is running strong with a steady temp and humidity.
Gonna keep an eye on things around day ten, thats about when the other bulb blew.
Alot on the schedule with this coming month between work and prepping for the new baby and maintaining the flock, hope i can keep up. Lol.

Yowzers, 4 days and not much to report. The heat here has been ridiculous. Just keeping things sprayed down and waterers fresh and full. I did move the last broody hen and chicks out of their pen as she was laying eggs. Lol. Well she was ready to be a hen again, chicks didn't even make it s full night on the ground before being abandoned. Haha. Poor little buggers are sleeping in a pile in the corner behind another pen and the house. Gonna have to add some new roosts to the main pen soon.
Had a visitor in the pond today, big old turkey hen. I think she was confused by the poults in the pen, the ducks were even more confused by her presence.

Here's to...
Late nights and early days
