My Wichita Coop Build

What a cool piece of craftsmanship that joint is. DH does a lot of projects (ok, all our projects) with used materials. Next time he's complaining about boards being too short, I'll have to impress him with this idea for stretching wood!

Those 10 little BSL chicks will be ready to move in before you know it. And you are going to have so many eggs!

Nice lumber stash and joinery!

I hope you have a much bigger brooder ready, heated only at one end.

Started rough assembly in the shop today, (its cold out side) plus have access to all the tools with out having extension cords drug out. will semi disassemble it to move it out side and final build it and put coop sides and roof on.

Started assembling the coop on site today

Being that I am doing this by my self I needed to make simple jigs/helpers to act as an extra hand.

For the large front and rear truss this helped hold the piece up to attach

This one helped line up the jig to hold the main trusses.

this is the jig to hold the walls at the right space apart so i could attach the truss.

I had to tweak the truss into place two clamps helped out on this.

Main framing is up.

and ending the day with the roof ply on and the interior wall studs for the coop are in.

lets see if I can get this painted while it is open and the ply on the outside of the coop tomorrow....
