I like Martins and it's very cool what you did but -
I believe they eat as many beneficials as they do mosquitos.

The mosquito story was fostered by those companies that make martin apartment houses. Great marketing plan, I wish I had thought of lying to sell stuff.
Mosquitos make up well under 10% of their diet.

-----I never had luck as a kid keeping any that small alive (but I didn't know about feeding the moistened dogfood, I always used baby food and a dropper). I'll be watching this thread.

yep good job....didn't think martin were that far north.....i have alot flying around eating insect when i mow. Can't wait to see what it is...cute little guy.
 
Considering where the OP lives, it is probably a barn swallow, not a martin. They are common in all the southern parts of Alaska.

Amazing job keeping the little guy alive!!!
