my yard is starting to flood..*pic heavy*I think it might be over now

I just looked if you were close enough to come get. You are a few hours north of me, but if you want, you can pack up the chickens and head to my farm. I am south of you, only have cloudy and an occasional spit of rain, so hopefully the clearing is headed up that way.

From a record breaking all time low in amount of rain recieved in a year, so completely flooding in 3 days flat. I am tired of the rain.

I have to leave in a few minutes, but I will PM you my phone number, I am serious, you can pack up the critters and head to the farm if you need us.

thank you so much for the hospitality, hopefully this is the end of it now though. I just went out to check on everything and it's FINALLY starting to go down a little bit. If we need to, we'll definatly take you up on your offer.

Good luck with the weather ... hopefully the water level will subside enough that high tide doesn't make things worse.

that's what we're hoping for..Hubby just called and said he's bringing home a pump of some sort so maybe we can try to move some of this water

I have a couple of submersible swimming pool pumps, those worked great when our neighbor's basement flooded. Know anyone with a pool nearby who might have some?

nope lol everyone around here either goes to the ocean beach up in nags head, kill devil hills area or the sound or any of the lakes near by or the alligator river for swimming so I don't know anyone with a pool. They're letting hubby off early today and he's bringing a pump from napa, I think it's a boat pump he's bringing, it cost $80 and it's supposed to move a decent amount of water. He said he should be home by 2-3 instead of 5. The water is starting to recede faster now, but it just started raining again like 2 minutes ago

At least I can see grass showing again in areas, so I'm hopeful

fingers crossed and knock on wood that this is about over.

wow cool weather thread thanks for sharing. been watching the stuff online weather.com and checking out a couple of surf sites. I think I read that Ocean City MD is having double to triple overhead waves. which I think means 18 to 24 ft. but choppy though. Sunday is still supposed to have 10 ft. waves and clean. Surfers are gonna have fun. Sorry to hear about your lake/yard. awesome pictures tho. I love weather extremes as long as we can stay safe!

Well I think it's finally about over. Hubby and I spent a few hours last night in the water with the bilge pump he picked up and we rigged it to a car battery and let it go all night. Had to pick up a butt load of garden hose to hook up to it, to get it down to the river (yes the alligator river which we do swim in and haven't seen a gator for a few years), but the yard is finally getting back to normal. I might actually be able to do my laundry today lol Thank you all for your support. Now if only the sun would come out today.. I might actually be able to let my angry RIRs out of their coop today. There's a lot of bugs that have been brought out, so that should make them happy. lol
I'm glad I don't have to walk around in hip waders today.
I'm sure the surfers will be having fun, if they can actually get up to the beach now. lol The roads have been flooded/closed for a little bit. Apparently they still need boats to get to some parts.
