Thank you so much I appreciate your help!Relax...I don' think you need to worry right now.
Read up on ventilation and how important it is.
I'll find a couple of things for you to read now.
Thankfully it should be only a day or so until it arrives but if not I definitely will try this, thank you for your help!Another thought, it could just be because of the amount of shavings and them being so close to the floor and stirring it up, then sleeping so close to the ground in such a big area. Maybe put the 2x4 up on something higher until the roosts are done?
... I'm a first time chicken owner who is very worried about her birds.... I may be wrong about the diagnosis but after researching it looks like Mycoplasma Gallisepticum...
Pardon my ignorance, but what in the name of the WIDE,WIDE, world of sport's is Mycoplasma Gallisepticum.![]()
What feed are your chickens receiving? More specifically are you feeding fermented feed?
Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG) has absolutely nothing to do with sports, however if you are raising chickens - whether just a few fluffy bums or if you have full blow farm MG is something that you should know about. Mycoplasma is also also known a CRD "Chronic Respiratory Disease". It is a contagious bacterial respiratory disease found in poultry worldwide. Symptoms include coughing, sneezing, mucous, watery eyes, facial swelling, etc. MG is one of the few disease that is transmitted both horizontally (direct contact, dust, dander, shoes, etc.) and vertically (into the embryo of hatching eggs). Birds that recover and birds that are exposed are considered carriers for life. Unless severe, most birds can recover, but they may become symptomatic during times of stress. MG is also linked to reproductive damage/ problems in laying hens which impacts egg quality/production, impacted oviduct, salpingitis, etc.
