I have 2 chickens that were not what I bought them as. Barred rock was what one was supposed to be and the other one midnight majesty. I saw a partridge rock picture that looked like Big Red the Big rooster. I have no clue about the other one. The black chick mix size is bantam. I thought was hen at first but tail feathers look like rooster.

what is the best book for describing breeds? This is my first year.

Do you have any pics of the Big red guy as a chick? Maybe a Welsummer? the bearded one is for certain an Easter Egger cockerel

Big red was black looking as a chick. The two are same age but the black one is the size of my little polish chickens. I tried to attach earlier pic and my americauna roo

Yes it has roo tail feathers. It is somuch smaller than the rest that i was very puzzled. I have americauna roo that is at least double the size.

Are easter egger roos normally that much smaller than Americauna roos. My Ameraucana and Big Red are about same size. Before the last molting the midget looked like a crow. Big Red and the midget are the same age but easter midget is so small and never got the roo type tsil feathers until this last feather change. I thought he was a hen until about a month ago. They are about 20 weeks. The Americauna about 24 weeks is my alpha roo

Your smaller of the two looks like it could be my chickens brother! She or he is half olive Egger and I think half Ameraucana.

Sure does. I bought from rural king but I thought maybe runt of a mixture. He is literally half the size of my other two roos. First roo I thought oh how cool. Second roo i liked cause he is the curious one. Third roo I thought awe crap hes not even big enough to eat, lol.
