So I suddenly felt a yearning to return to my earlier days of my youth when the Nintendo 64 was brand spanking new, just released, and cost 300$! It was like a golden age of gaming with its release. The pinnacle of gaming technology! It put the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis to SHAME! And thusly, I dusted off my N64, connected a controller with a rumble pack, and off I went! Actually, it took a while to get the flatscreen hdtv to recognize what the heck an N64 was, so before I actually could game, I had to fiddle with the TV for an hour or two. But eventual victory was achieved, and I was off!
I chose Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Perhaps one of the best games created EVER. I mean, it had graphics (for its day), it had PLOT, it had challenges, and it was fun! Oh my goodness, to be 9 again when it was just released in 1998! I saved weeks and weeks of money that I had earned doing tons of extra chores around the house and working for neighbors to be able to buy it. And of course, once I bought it with all my own money (50$ to someone that young is a LOT) my elder sister declared she should be allowed to play. Aw hell no! Of course my parents decided to allow her to since we each had an hour of 'gaming time' a day allotted to us after homework was done (such good parents!).
But anyway, OMG I am loving playing that game again! Even though I've beaten is several times before, it has been so long that it remains challenging. I kinda know where things are, but not exactly anymore. Once I beat it again, on to Majora's Mask, the epically awesome sequel!
So, has anyone else here put their N64 to use lately? If not, maybe this post could serve as inspiration to give that old system some attention again
