So I suddenly felt a yearning to return to my earlier days of my youth when the Nintendo 64 was brand spanking new, just released, and cost 300$! It was like a golden age of gaming with its release. The pinnacle of gaming technology! It put the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis to SHAME! And thusly, I dusted off my N64, connected a controller with a rumble pack, and off I went! Actually, it took a while to get the flatscreen hdtv to recognize what the heck an N64 was, so before I actually could game, I had to fiddle with the TV for an hour or two. But eventual victory was achieved, and I was off!

I chose Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Perhaps one of the best games created EVER. I mean, it had graphics (for its day), it had PLOT, it had challenges, and it was fun! Oh my goodness, to be 9 again when it was just released in 1998! I saved weeks and weeks of money that I had earned doing tons of extra chores around the house and working for neighbors to be able to buy it. And of course, once I bought it with all my own money (50$ to someone that young is a LOT) my elder sister declared she should be allowed to play. Aw hell no! Of course my parents decided to allow her to since we each had an hour of 'gaming time' a day allotted to us after homework was done (such good parents!).

But anyway, OMG I am loving playing that game again! Even though I've beaten is several times before, it has been so long that it remains challenging. I kinda know where things are, but not exactly anymore. Once I beat it again, on to Majora's Mask, the epically awesome sequel!

So, has anyone else here put their N64 to use lately? If not, maybe this post could serve as inspiration to give that old system some attention again

I got it out the other day to play some super mario 64 and my favorite game of all time.... drum roll please! Legend of Zelda ocarina of time! i have been craving the music of majoras mask lately, I will not lie:weee

Aah, nostalgia! Back in the day, I used to have a Super Nintendo, a Dreamcast, and a Nintendo 64. Oh, the memories of wandering Hyrule Field and jumping barriers with Epona... Mom had a complete file, so I would go tons of places with that! I remember hiding behind the sofa and watching her beat Ganon finally! I once tried to go up in his castle, but I got too scared by all of the bats.

Majora's Mask was too hard for me back then, and I always got scared. I do have fond memories of putting on the Bunny Mask and marching with the little chicks, though!

Oh! Yoshi's Story! I played that so much back in the day! I thought the little Yoshis were so cute, and even the bosses were adorable to me! I wanted to hug the cotton candy boss. XD Although the part where the Yoshi died and the Koopas took him back to the castle always scared me.

I am 22 and I am STILL freaked out by the Bottom of the Well and Shadow Temple dungeons. I don't know if I am going to fall through a floor into a room of ReDeads or turn a corner into a ReDead! Those things scare the pants off of me! When I was younger I made my older sister do those dungeons in exchange for doing chores since I was too scared. I can only play those two in the daytime now since at night it is TOO creepy

I just played the Sun's Song to freeze the Redeads. They never scared me as a kid. Oddly enough, the Happy Mask Salesman from Majora's Mask appears incredibly often in my nightmares. O-o
