Naked Neck Project. Please help with genetics

Well, its possible. I never know what I might do. I don't have any more breeding pens available right now but maybe in the future???

If you really want an interesting project, you have the ingredients to make a dual-purpose naked neck olive-egger, either as a terminal-cross or (if you're really determined) as a relatively true-breeding strain.

It's often repeated but it's not true birds pure for naked neck have completely bare necks. the majority of birds pure for naked neck have a small bowtie containing only a few feathers, and the whole front of neck is easily visible. Birds not pure for naked neck have much larger bowties with lots of feathers which cover most of the front mid-lower neck. the difference is even visible on newly hatched chicks:

pure NN on right, on left not pure. there's also minor differences that can be seen, such as naked spot between the eye and beak vs fully fuzzy face.

completely bare necks seems to depend on something extra besides simply being pure for naked neck. seems to be a recessive, it comes up in low numbers from a line... other stocks seem to not have it just simply never produce a total bare neck.

show standard: completely naked neck is preferred but small bowties are allowed. Just not the big bowties on birds not pure NN.

boykin- your chick picture shows a bird not pure NN. they are extremely common everywhere- hatchery, backyard breeder, even can be found in show bred stock. would not worry about that...

I have not gotten any sort of chickens yet, but have ideas to create Naked Neck chickens that lay all colors of the rainbow with possibly some speckles lol.

My current ideas are to breed the Naked Necks with Cream Legbars to get green eggs, Black Copper Marans for the darker purples, and Welsummers for the speckles.

I know this is going to be a long and difficult breeding program, but I'm excited nonetheless.

Any advice or assistance is appreciated in this endeavor.
