Yes it us especially was looking to get babies from her.

I'll just have to make other plans now.

So sorry, Draye.

So sorry, Draye. :(

Thanks. I feel the loss because if the project. I guess I don't get attached to the birds like some do, I look at them as eggs and meat. Not that it means I don't have my picks and favorites among them. Just not the pet type of attachment.

I hope you don't have preditors.  I have to use hardware cloth on my coop.  Too many bears, coyotes, raccoons and possums..  The last two of these will reach right into chicken wire and pull the chickens neck out and eat it off.  Especially at night when the chickens are in their night daze.

No we don't see many.we have seen a coon or two coming to eat cat food but my husband takes care of them. He varmit hunts an tracks some so we keep a close eye out plus weve got two dogs, my in-laws donkeys an lama who stay close to our house. However I do keep a very good eye out. Thanks for your concern :-)

I got my first egg from one of the NN pullets today at 18 weeks - a little 30gm egg but it's a start. :-)
Also cracked open one of the extra large eggs from the LR hens this morning and it was a three yolker. I've never seen that before. Right now my banty pullets that just started are my best layers. The mille fleur booted bantam is 8 eggs in 8 days, the partridge rock is 7/8 and the partridge cochin that just started is 3/3. The eggs are little (25 - 35gm) but considering the hens are 1.25 - 2 lbs, I can't complain.

Congrats on the new layer.

Just curious what is LR abbreviated for?

There are so many nonsensical abbreviations being let loose around here, it looks like a short-bus convention or a Treakie Treck. I don't even pay attention to them anymore, much less care enough to request a translation.

Sorry. I usually try not to use an abbreviation unless I've already spelled it out. LR are the Label Rouge that I'm planning on crossing with my NNs.

I got one triple yolker from a hatchery EE when they first started laying.

That's alright. I usually don't use abbreviations except the very well known Ex: RIR and such. I just want to know because I couldn't think if anything with those initials.
