Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I have the same feeling but flipped around. Just never cared for the RIR one bit. Sort of liked NH, especially the ones that were truly dual production bred not just layers. Then there are the German imports- beautiful but no idea if they are good dual purpose birds. I have often thought crossing NN to a German NH would make handsome showbirds.

If it came to a choice of the two, I guess I'd take the Reds but if they threw in a few NHs by accident or intent, I wouldn't feel slighted because I simply have no real interest in either, not to say they don't have some good qualities but I just never saw any favorable percentage in having either breed hanging around here. Fortunately, the whole family feels the same way about them.

@Kev Ive given this some thought and not just recently. If I didn't have others to consider here, I'd only have NNs and Dark Cornish. I have become very fond of the DC's over the last couple years and can't see not having them for the rest of my life. Will certainly be crossing them with NNs on a regular basis.

Oh no.  do you have wire or something along the ground to stop diggers?

There is concrete and wire is in it so they can't dig. Also there are lot of rocks burried inside the run so I'm realy not worried about that. I wonder if they can jump over a fence that is about 6.7 feet tall and open coop door that is closed with brick

No fox expert, but can't imagine a fox could jump flat footed over an almost 7 foot fence.

Don't be deceived by 'Renard'...what he can't jump, he can easily climb...I've taken them out of trees.

@Phill98 As for trying to block a chicken door with bricks...might not even bother. There are many ways that will secure a door that are far superior to a few bricks. The fox is a great digger of dens and can get around rocks and roots that are much more secure than what I reading in this.
