Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Haha that sure would be nice- split the order and getting the chance to talk turkens in person.

That is an idea, find someone local for an reasonable split of order from the hatchery.

Okay...I admit it....I've been eavesdropping on your conversation.

I sort of live in between you guys. Right now I'm in no position to take on that many more chicks, but I'd be willing to consider splitting an S & G order with the two of you somewhere down the line. Since my NNs are my meat breed, if I don't get the kind of results I'm looking for then adding this bloodline may be my best option. Just something to chew on and keep in the backs of our minds.

You know, guys, this is a thought, in a year or two. Ship to DesertChic and meet in the middle? I don't know if I could handle 33-34 birds, though...

All the nakeds have new sweaters on tonight. Rudy was wearing it like a boss, Phyllis was throwing a temper tantrum, Houdini was already trying to figure a way out of it, and Stripey butt was just interested in going back to the food.

(over nights are going to be in the 30's starting tonight for a few nights)

Sounds like Houdini is aptly named. Maybe Phyllis thinks it DOES make her butt look big...

I THINK this one was yellow downed as a chick. These two seem to be converging a bit to look more similar as they get older - I will double check the legband number sometime tomorrow and check my records.

It's been fun getting such a variety of colors and patterns!!!

OK, took a look today before it got dark (happens so fast this time of year!!!!!) That one WAS yellow downed as a chick. The other one was back downed (and has black legs as well - this one has white legs).

This is him at 3 weeks:

And then at 8 weeks:

BTW, the partridge has barring, no chevron that I can tell.

(I'm starting to really like that S&G idea...)

This is what I love about this breed....they always surprise you. I have a yellow down chick that's growing out very red, another that is growing out mostly grey with flecks of red, and a third that's developing gold and white barring. And my all-black little cockerel, Ozzy, is suddenly sprouting red neck feathers! LOL! They do keep me guessing.

I bet we could work out something from S&G in the time frame you mentioned.

Fibro-melanistic stag that is growing out to be put over fibro-melanistic hens.
I have so few w/ any red at all it is odd to me seeing a fibro w/ red feathers. It is interesting to see how much of the fibro the boys keep (or don't) as they mature. I look forward to seeing more pics of him and his future chicks.

Such an interesting look with that red over black! Keep updating us with photos!
