He has a humongous pea comb. It looks like I cut it out if the picture this time around.
He us 1/4 Easter Egger, but the mother laid a brown egg and had a pea comb.

Liking the colors and pattern on those. Pretty cool.

Don't think partridge, think this one was said to be yellow downed as a chick?  Partridges never are yellow downed as chicks. Usually really dark brown or chimpunk stripe variant highly marked with lots of "marbling" pattern on their heads(like on wyandotte chicks).

I didn't know ( realize ) that he was yellow as a new hatch.

The color looks a lot like what I get in partridge colored males. I was just going by that.

I THINK this one was yellow downed as a chick. These two seem to be converging a bit to look more similar as they get older - I will double check the legband number sometime tomorrow and check my records.

It's been fun getting such a variety of colors and patterns!!!

OK, the real photos (the ones I could get). First the black ones, pullet and then rose comb:

Nice pullet, with great black color. In second picture she seems to be broad in type? I like this for meat/production breeding or just for good heavy type. if that's a buff pullet behind her, she looks promising also.
Here's the partridge:

Remind me of her chick down color and pattern?

Yeah! don;t think I could be happy with just one color. I'd be thrilled with a flock of the type I like(on the heavy side of "dual purpose") but in all sorts of colors and patterns.

Ya sure...? kinda looks threatening in this... ;) that's a great pic, I cannot get chicken selfies this clear...

If you can't get a good focus this close, crop it. Most anything you take a pic w/ will have enough megapixels to make very close crops and still be able to post online (just not make a print of)

By crop it I mean take the pic that was good focus but taken from a further distance and crop to a head shot.

Great idea, thanks!

btw loved your chicken pajamas progress pictures ;) I need to start thinking of putting clothes on mine too or at least get started on sizing fitting for the two new boys from this year's hatch.
