Naked Neck/Turken Thread

The only thing I love more than photos of baby chicks is photos of baby chicks with their broody mama.

I scetched the nest boxes I want to build. I plan to cut a window on them like on picture, for ventilation, since I plan doing it from plywood or something similar. On the top one I put a little "deck" for them to jump first on it and then go into the nest. So, what do you guys think?

nice looking but I think they don't need ventilation unless it will be too hot in the summer. mine prefer dark and private places.

It's very, very hot in the summer, that's why I put that little window. I won't cut a big one, about 2.5 inches

I'm in the Arizona desert and none of my nest boxes have ventilation. Hens like dark places to lay for privacy and that's when they feel most vulnerable.

I thought that I would make a ventilation for summers because nests would be very closed and it gets wet under the nesting box I have now. I don't know why, they don't sleep there.
Any ideas?

Also I thought it would look good

if the humidity is high (I guess it is with all grass you have there) you can drill a few small holes for ventilation. it will be dark.
