Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Figured out my fertility issues. Shakespear was bad off inside, he was full of yellow liquid, and his liver was really bad and his testes was 1/3 the size of one of the young boys I just did and that boy wasn't even one of the most "mature" acting.

Oh wow... good to find out there was actually something wrong with him. Hope the remaining roos are completely normal... you need to churn out more cool and beautiful birds!

Here are the pics I promised. They aren't very good, my back was hurting after my marathon freezer camp day (6 boys)

This is my favorite fm girl, tiny comb, nice size, good dark skin

This girl doesn't have dark skin but she has colored feathers and a top knot.

This girl is another one I really like, she is dark skinned w/ colored feathers.

This girl isn't as dark skinned as she looks in this pic.

She is still really young, but I have my eye on her for how dark she is, if she stays as she matures.

I am missing one, she looks just like the broody mom only a little smaller.

Still good pictures even though a tad but dark. Thanks for them. I really like those ( tan/buffish) colored ones. The dark skin makes them look even Prettier than normal, and I don't really care for dark skinned chickens. I still trying to get used to the totally neckkid ones. They look kind of creepy.

We had a really hard freeze last night. I waited until the sun was up and the temp rose to 25º before opening the pens, providing feed, and thawing out the water for all my flocks. I found it amusing that each of my NNs drank some of the warm water I'd provided, ate a couple mouthfuls of food, and then headed straight for the sunlight where they huddled together to warm themselves. They looked almost regal and only moved when I finally went into the outdoor chick pen to thaw out the pop door and release the most NN chicks. It was charming to watch all those grown NNs surround the chick pen as if making sure everyone was okay.

I didn't know temperatures can be so low at your parts. good luck

did he show any sign of not being well?

Nothing overt, nothing you could put a finger on, but hasn't "acted right" for several months. He still chased the young boys, but not as vigorously, he still mounted the hens, but the eggs were not fertile, he still had good coloring, but didn't act like head roo, he slept in a lower position then the flock.

His liver was pale and not shaped right, didn't have tumors, just the whole liver wasn't shaped right. It also had a thick covering on the liver, firmer then it should have been. I'm pretty sure the original issue was hepatic in nature and the other issues were side effects.

I really like fm white bearded girl. She is gorgeus! So what boys do you have now?

I have read somewhere that abuse of farming land resulted in lack of iodine. we think that corn, wheat, etc contain ingredients they used to. the advise was to add a few drops of iodine in the chickens water in order to help their liver to function properly. I believe this is a good point.
