HI Everyone! I'm so happy I found this page. All your birds are gorgeous! I, too, love Naked Necks. I have six hens that lay green, olive, and dark brown eggs. It seems like the popularity of these smart birds is increasing. :D If anyone is interested in purchasing hatching eggs, I just listed some on the 24 hour auction page. I'm in Washington State and am happy to ship! https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/754060/the-new-crazy-24hr-auction-thread/11500#post_16816140
We are as glad as you are and welcome!

Hello and welcome! May ask what breed the rooster in the above photo is? I have a rooster that looks remarkably similar to him. Mine was supposed to be a pure Ameraucana, but doesn't have the puffy cheeks, and though he came from a blue egg, I've never managed to figure out what he is.

They are like twins almost! My rooster was a hatchery EE, from either Meyer or Cackle. I don't remember which. He was a super nice rooster, but he didn't fit in my breeding program so I rehomed him. He is the father of this pullet. She is stunning and I can't wait for her to lay her first egg.

My rooster had the blue/dilute gene so some of his chicks were blue like the pullet pictured. And this one (her mom is an australorp).

Beautiful roo and hens/pullets.

what color was the mother of the NN pullet?

Have you bred the roo to a blue/splash?

I'm intrigued by the coloring, at a glance he looks like a normal blue but blue isn't supposed to dilute the red/gold pigments that much like on the NN pullet.

@Kev

I have had a lot of EE rooster with the blue look like the above rooster.

Personally I don't think it's blue. Either Lavender, which I really don't think do either, maybe Khaki or Mauve. I've never seen the actual color in person so don't really know what it should look like.

Furthermore I don't know if either Khaki or Mauve will dilute red.

Just done thoughts. The chicks that I'm getting on the NN's from the EE lines are still producing a lot of odd colors.

Around 16 or 17 weeks.

I really need to get an update picture.

Dad was a Blue Red Naked Neck.
Mom was a Wheaten Duckwing Naked Neck ( also known as Silver Wheaten).

So @Kev would she be considered a Partridge ( maybe Red Partridge) also. Her under color is a blueish color with a deep red over that. There are faint patterns in her also.

She definitely is partridge, that chick pic is a classic variation of partridge chick down.

She is a little light for a partridge so she has something else affecting the color/pattern but I don't know what it is.

This is a straight partridge hen, no other genes affecting her color or pattern. Naturally pretty dark.
