Naked Neck/Turken Thread

My NN rooster took a long time until he started with some real deep down gurgling sounds. I can still tell who is crowing because he has this deep voice. He does not crow very often. It also took him a little longer to convince the girls... They just did not take him serious (have two roosters together). Judging from the last batch of chicks though he doing a fine job now!

Years back I have a most beautiful partidge style NN rooster. He was stunning with every color and a speckled black with gold chest. Very quiet bird who did not need to make noise.

Thanks all for your info regarding my "no crow" rooster.
I've had NN cockrels that started crowing at 4 months.
I have 2 that are now over 1 year old. They start making all
kind of racket around 2:30 AM and keep going all day! I know this guy
is mature because he has been after my hens. I'll just wait it out and
let you all know what happens.

Jelly you want the poor rooster to crow with all that other racket ?

Actually it seems that some roosters are quiet in order to keep the peace ie they do not want to go through the challenge routine. I keep thinking the NN are one of the smart breeds.

I have a 2 year old buff Chantecler that just started crowing this spring. He only started after I removed all the other roosters and he now has all the hens to himself.

My first NN hatched last night! Only one out of the dozen so far, I'm crossing my fingers. He/she is so adorably homely. It is homozygous too. I can't wait to see more.

so far three have hatched under the broody- silky- but babies are cochin/nn cross - here are the first 3, one still to go...
