Yep! The black & white barred NN is not my favorite look, but here's the one I had for a while:


His name was Screech because he never shut up. As he matured the barring became more prominent.

I prefer the buff or red barring for NNs:

On my way back from WV (must be there 7/15), we are stopping off near Charleston WV to pick up a free 7 month Dominique cockerel. The breeder is sending me pics this evening and I will post them. He conforms very well to SOP except he is a bit<quite a bit> larger than standard calls for and will fit well into my breeding plans, limited as they are compared to what goes on at Hillbilly Heights. He has a broad flat back and should help in the meat bird scheme....Planning to cross him over the three Hatchery Dark Cornish that Jason gladly sent off with me...and some Necked Neck hens.

I would love to have a couple of the chicks under Angel. They are beautiful big hefty chicks but Jason won't even consider letting me have any...not even one. Thinking of going to the same source and get my own!!!

Is the fawn a wild one or a pet/rescue?

yours look to be either naked neck mixed with games or a line of games with naked necks. The roo being dubbed makes me think the latter? They don't match the sop for naked necks for this reason.

the roo's color is Delaware- a black tail white with barring. Hen is cut off in pic, appears to be a brown red.. neither in the sop. From what I remember, the NN sop colors are buff, white, black and red.

They might be good birds if they're of a line of games with naked necks.. but I don't know anything about them other than they do exist.

since your roo already has barring, him over a barred rock will give either all barred(if he is pure for barring) or most chicks will be barred, with some black pullets(if he is not pure for barring).

A lot of the chicks will grow out barred but a fair number will start to show either white or yellow edging on the chest/necks in both sexes and then on the backs or wing bows on the roosters.

The chicks with a bigger head spot probably are the males pure for barring. The ones with small head spots could be either pullets or males though, not a 100% thing.

I'm an enabler so I'm all for you going to the source.

I'm getting some hatching eggs from Linda, due to be shipped out on July 5th. She's giving me a mix of pure DC and some of her crossed birds. I'm VERY excited about their potential and plan to cross them to my best NNs.
