Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I was actually hatching Silver Grey Dorking eggs I'd purchase from a breeder and just threw in three eggs from my own flocks. Most, but not all, of my roosters, both penned up and free-ranging are NNs, but I've also got some mixed breeds, an EE and two Bielefelder roosters. I honestly thought I'd get at least one more NN from the mix, but the other two came out fully feathered. Ironically, I had 3 roosters all raised together and overseeing the girls I pulled eggs from, and each of those boys sired a chick. In case you're curious, here are the daddies and their offspring: Simon, the father of the NN above: Monty: He sired Andres (the Giant): And finally, Harley: Sired this little chick:
The black chick at the bottom, is it fully feathered in the front and naked on the back of the neck? That's what it looks like to me.

It appears to be fully feathered, but even its down at hatch was a little strange. The neck appears to be the last part of the bird feathering out. My son jokes that it has a "poodle haircut", LOL.

I've had a change of heart with my scaleless chicken project after my poor sweet Benjamin was killed by one of her hatch-mates, an overly amorous rooster. This isn't the first speed bump I've hit with this project but it is the last straw, I'm too heart broken to continue with this. I've decided to focus entirely on my serama and move all large fowl out.

As a result, I have many chickens from this scaleless project and nothing to do with them. I am in the DFW area of Texas if anyone is interested in taking project birds.

I have three 1yr olds that are guaranteed splits and others that range from just hitting point of lay to 2wk old chicks. Many are naked neck and/or have scaleless markers, but not all. None of them are phenotypical scaleless but they can produce you phenotypical scaleless birds. Many of them also have adorable cockatoo-like crests or are partially rumpless! There are single and rose (no leader) combed birds. Two are cochin bantam mixes, split for lavender and booted (the hen is crested.) I can take photos for serious parties. All in all I have over 20 birds. I plan to sell some and give away others. No shipping, sorry. I figured I should offer here first since y'all were so helpful to me starting out with this and are NN lovers. PM me if you're interested in giving these birds a home

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your hen.

Good luck with the relocation of the rest of your project birds. Posting here was a great idea.

Benjie was a bit of a butt and she could be a real brat sometimes, she was surprisingly high in the pecking order! But she is still very missed. It's not really the same going out there and not having her try to tug my shoes right off me to get me to put treats down faster or running laps because she's excited the feeder is getting filled

Went out and checked the youngest NN's today. 1st day off in a while to where I could really study them.

It now appears that the majority of the 15 left are indeed pullets. There are two I'm still really unsure about. They are the two fully feathered ines that I have.

@draye or anyone else who might know, I've lurked on you're naked neck facebook group, would like to join, just had a question, I've never joined a group and pretty new to FB. I'm pretty sure any of my friends on FB will see I'm a member of the group if I join, not a big deal, but being a public site will every post on the site or 'like', comments, be posted to all my friends 'timeline' or whatever it's called just like any other post? Or is it like posting to a news site etc where you have to OK it to post so everyone of your friends see it? Some of my friends, family, and co-workers know I have the strange addiction, but I'd like to keep it somewhat in the 'closet' ... and not be one of those people that have to post a pic of every darn plate of food they eat or dumb cat/dog pic etc...
