Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I'd say the odds probably low, but if you know the flock was composed of "pure breeds"- example NN with barred rocks, buff orps, then the chances of them being full siblings is nonexistent. However they still could be half siblings... same rooster over a barred rock hen and a buff orp hen or whatever...
Ah, okay. Hm, the full necked chicks we have seemed sex-linked (technically, I believe the black NN females we have are sex-links? correct me if I'm mistaken...).

The parents were a mixed flock, it was supposed to be a buff rooster over a wheaten hen (both NNs), however, I sort of got a mixed bag since so many eggs quit on us. Was trying to figure out hoe to best cross these guys (if at all) to provide the most interesting offspring.

Buff rooster over BR would give sex linked chicks- barred cockerels, black pullets.

A barred rooster will not give the same sex linking though.. a rooster not pure for barring will give barreds and non barreds in both sexes, some fall into this trap- thinking the black ones are pullets... whoops!

what is interesting to you? if you liked Zazzle, breed the barred boy with a buff, because if he is half buff half BR(for example) he will throw some birds like Zazzle- barring over a black tail buff/red.

Camera shy? Cute!

Loved going through all of the photos.

Question..is it ok to keep NN's with NN's..breed them together? I'm seeing a lot of photos with NN roosters with NN hens. Thought it caused bald spots?

It is ok, you won't get bald birds like you would with frizzles.

You can get only a NN that has clean neck with not a single feather, or Nn thet has few feathers on their necks just like mine have.

Good to know! I have a darling smooth SG out there that I wouldn't mind a male breeding with. I was thinking if I keep this male, I would not dare hatch the eggs. She has a nice big bow tie.
He has one too.

Here is the girl. She lays the biggest eggs for a little gal.

Birds like Zazzle would be lovely! I find variations like Crele, Isabel or Cuckoos to be my favorites, I do have a fondness for barring.
Thanks for clarifying regarding the black pullets, I think it just worked out that the NNs and the Sex-links came from the same the same hatch and so far it seems all the blacks are girls (so far), but I'll definitely keep this all in mind as I proceed forward! :)
