Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Here's the whole gang together now..except for two..this is with the other bator that hatched NN..one was fully feathered. I have a few NN's!

I'm actually a bit surprised by some of the coloring on your chicks. Zen's being black isn't a surprise since Heisenberg is mainly black, but there's also a lot of white on that little one. And Fezz?? Wow! Both of Dolly's chicks should be barred since she and Zazzle both carry the gene. Cocoa Puff's chick....always a buff chick. She's never given me anything but a buff chick...but sometimes the color changes quite a bit as the chick grows. And Rizzo's feisty little one....oh yeah. She's my toughest gal, and always the first to reach me for treats. I'm not surprise her offspring are like that.

And Prince...I can't wait to see how Prince develops!

Quote: Yeah, tell me about it. But it wasn't hard to make myself do, knowing what a horrible set of injuries and likely death he'd get back in the brooder. They are all SO much bigger than he was, too! I cried - it was sad.

Quote: It's getting better as they get older. Honestly, I haven't had much time to spend with them other than keeping them fed, watered, and relatively clean, so I haven't gotten to do the socializing I usually like to do, and since some of the only contact is banding and weighing, I don't think it's the ideal situation to have them not freak out at me. But I need to start working on it more. That being said, the boy above is big (for his group) and very sweet.

Zen has puffy cheeks. That egg was the one that had pipped in the middle..and I helped it out. Love the puffy face! Betting that white will go away as it grows.

And, two of the others that didn't make it, were the ones that pipped in the middle. I just didn't bother helping them because the pips were so tiny! Was waiting for them to get bigger. Ugh!

Cocoa is pretty much buff! Just has that spot on the head..and a bit of black on the back..that will probably change into something more later on.

Maybe the one chipmunk chick of Dolly's will turn barred later. Ha..the other one is a dark blue I think..with a brown face! So cute. I know it's them..I took the egg shells out with the chick as they hatched. I always do. I don't like them bowling the eggs around. I was up and down all night. It was actually fun seeing what all was hatching!

These photos are with all of the chicks I hatched from both bators. :)

I was just going through some photos for the Easter Hatch A Long...found some of my past NN's. I may have posted them here before.

Loved this big girl. She was big! Just a pullet here.

A younger pullet. A little feathering on those feet.

These two found the dirt on the other side. Another white. A hen.

This one reminds me of Gladys. Gladys is more red, and her
tail is pretty now! Feathers grew back and normal. This girl
here laid a pretty blue/green egg.

Yet another white.

Thank you! If you're in need of broody hens, I've got two Dorking-mix hens, sisters, that frequently go broody that I would be willing to sell to you. If you're interested in them, PM me and I can supply you with all of their details - age, POL, egg size and laying frequency, and how often they went broody last year and when. One of them was already broody this year. She really wants to be a mama!

Wanted to share pics of a chick I'm excited about - and get opinions on gender! Boy, or girl?

Carries Mottling - also carries DUN - note the gray in the wing here:

this one is 100% girl! a beautiful one.
